Research field Security
The implementation of unmanned systems into the infrastructure is accompanied by potential risks as well as numerous possibilities.
Already today crashes or almost accidents of drones and aircraft are getting more an more frequent and are present in the media. In addition to these already present hazards, incidents of unmanned systems and road, ship or train traffic are conceivable. Meanwhile, terrorist attacks are a serious threat. Critical infrastructures such as power plants or chemical parks are potential targets for attack. In addition, espionage and smuggling are real threats as well as the interference of privacy issues.
The central concern of the research area is the identification of these hazards and, in a subsequent step, their evaluation. On the basis of this work, the IuS tries to develop defense strategies, with the research fields of security and law cooperating closely.

Forschungsfeld Sicherheit
Mit der Implementierung unbemannter Systeme in die Infrastruktur gehen neben den zahlreichen Möglichkeiten auch Gefährdungspotentiale einher. So sind schon heute häufiger Kollisionen von Drohnen und Flugzeugen in den Medien präsent. Neben diesen schon realisierten Gefährdungen sind auch Zwischenfällen aus umbemannten Systeme und dem Straßen-, Schiffs- und Zugverkehr denkbar. Darüber hinaus sind Spionage und Schmuggel reale Gefährdungspotentiale. Auch der Eingriff in die Privatsphäre ist schon heute ein Gefährdungsszenario.
Zentrales Anliegen des Forschungsbereichs Sicherheit ist die Identifikation dieser Gefährdungslagen und in einem darauf folgenden Schritt deren Evaluation. Auf Grundlade dieser Arbeit versucht das IUS Abwehrstrategien zu entwickeln, wobei die Forschungsfelder Sicherheit und Recht eng verzahnt zusammenarbeiten.
